Jay-Z Scores Minor Legal Victory In Roc-A-Fella Dispute With Dame Dash

With the sale of Dame Dash’s one-third ownership position in Roc-A-Fella Records, JAY-Z has achieved a little win in his continuing legal battle with the record label.

Judge Robert W. Lehrburger has declined to make a decision on a copyright law issue, namely whether Jay-Z would retain the rights to Reasonable Doubt after 2031.

The judge dismissed New York City’s request to look into Roc-A-Fella’s financial holdings through discovery, stating such form of inquiry was likewise outside the purview of the court.

The verdict implies that Dash’s Roc-A-Fella shares could be put up for public auction as early as next month, delaying the resolution over Reasonable Doubt’s ownership.
