About the Entertainment

Louis Cowboy Johnson

Louis Johnson’s bluesy Americana music is served up by way of his hard life led experiences balanced by the rich, soulful quality of his voice, a voice commanding and strong without resorting to theatrics. The 11 originals on his new CD, Old Friend, showcase his honey tobacco smooth vocals accompanied only by his guitar and one or two side men – no bass, no drums. It is a straight forward, true grit delivery, a perfect blend of a seasoned life and its story in song, accompanied by some of Austin’s finest musicians.

Civilized Natives

One of Pensacola’s premier bands, introducing harmonies and playing few have witnessed in the local band scene. Civilized Natives was founded in 1994 by Glenn Vignolo. They currently frequent such places as Paddy O’Leary’s, have been involved in several Bands on the Beach performance Nights, LOVES ITS FANS AND AUDIENCES, and is an award winning band, CN released their first CD, “Closing In,” in the spring of 2000. “Closing In” features tunes with intricate harmonies and dazzling musicianship — trademarks of a band whose musical roots run deep into the musical past.

National Radio Talk Show Host: Phil Valentine

Phil made a national name for himself by helping lead the now famous Tennessee Tax Revolt.  Phil joined other talk show hosts in taking on Tennessee’s Republican governor and Democratic legislature as they tried, time and again, to push through a state income tax.  The measure was removed and the citizens of Tennessee were spared the burden of an income tax. In December of 2003, Phil announced to his stunned audience that he was leaving WLAC radio after 5 1/2 years.  He spent his 6-month hiatus writing another book.  Phil returned to the air on July 8, 2004 at SuperTalk 99.7WTN in Nashville, almost 9 years to the day after The Phil Valentine Show debuted in Nashville.  Within three months he was back on top as the most listened to political commentator in Nashville, local or syndicated.  His second book, Tax Revolt, was released in March of 2005. On January 2, 2007, Westwood One launched The Phil Valentine Show into syndication.  The show is now heard on over 110 radio stations across the country through Cumulus Media Networks. On January 27, 2012 Rocky Mountain Pictures released Valentine’s documentary, An Inconsistent Truth, in theaters.  In February of 2012 the movie took second place for Best Documentary at the Appalachian Film Festival.
